This study explored the relationship between excessive social network use and anxiety levels in a sample of 15 adolescents aged 15-17 years. Using a cross-sectional design, the social network addiction questionnaire (ARS) and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) were administered. The results revealed a high prevalence of social network addiction and significant levels of anxiety in the participants. These findings are consistent with previous research linking problematic social network use with impaired psychological well-being in adolescents. Comparing our results with similar studies (Chen, Y., Li, H., Zhang, Q., & Wang, J. 2020), we found similarities in the prevalence of addictive behaviours, but differences in the manifestation of mental health problems. While this study provides evidence on the association between the two variables, the limitations of the cross-sectional design and sample size are acknowledged. In conclusion, the results underline the importance of developing interventions to address problematic use of social networks and promote mental health in adolescents.
