Resumen
El objetivo de la investigación fue analizar la relación de la inteligencia emocional y estrés académico en estudiantes de 18-30 años de una universidad privada de Cúcuta de acuerdo con una metodología de paradigma positivista, enfoque cuantitativo, diseño no experimental de corte transaccional y alcance correlacional llevada a cabo en una población de 518 estudiantes de los programas de derecho, trabajo social y psicología de los semestres primero, segundo y tercero con una muestra probabilística estratificada de 299 estudiantes, utilizando como técnicas de recolección de información el cuestionario TMMS-24 para identificar la inteligencia emocional y el inventario SISCO para evaluar el estrés académico, por ende la técnica de procesamiento y análisis de la información fue el programa SPSS donde se obtiene como resultado niveles considerables de síntomas y estrés en el contexto educativo con un bajo uso de estrategias de afrontamiento, a su vez, un promedio adecuado de inteligencia emocional en las dimensiones atención, claridad y reparación de esta manera se encuentran correlaciones entres estas dos variables. Se concluye en este estudio que a bajos niveles de estrés académico se da un adecuado desarrollo de la inteligencia emocional, por último, se sugiere para futuras investigaciones correlacionar rendimiento académico, estilos de aprendizaje y deserción estudiantil.
The objective of the research was to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and academic stress in students aged 18-30 years of a private university in Cúcuta according to a positivist paradigm methodology, quantitative approach, non-experimental design of transactional cut and correlational scope carried out in a population of 518 students of the law, social work and psychology programs of the first, second and third semesters with a stratified probabilistic sample of 299 students, using as data collection techniques the TMMS-24 questionnaire to identify emotional intelligence and the SISCO inventory to evaluate academic stress, therefore the data processing and analysis technique was the SPSS program where the results obtained were considerable levels of symptoms and stress in the educational context with a low use of coping strategies, in turn, an adequate average of emotional intelligence in the dimensions of attention, clarity and repair in this way correlations are found between these two variables. It is concluded in this study that at low levels of academic stress there is an adequate development of emotional intelligence, finally, it is suggested for future research to correlate academic performance, learning styles and student desertion.
