The normalization of aggressive behavior in relationships among university students, specifically at Simón Bolívar University in Cúcuta, represents a far-reaching social problem that affects the emotional, social, and academic well-being of young people. Traditional ideas about romantic love, cultural norms, and patterns learned in the family environment contribute to violent behaviors being perceived as normal or justified. This perception leads to many behaviors, such as manipulation, excessive jealousy, disrespect, and physical aggression, being minimized or made invisible, both by victims and the community at large. Young adults tend to accept violence as part of living together, which perpetuates cycles of abuse and makes it difficult to identify. Factors such as the lack of safe spaces for dialogue and adequate support programs exacerbate this reality. Exposure to these cultural and social aspects, coupled with a lack of awareness about rights and boundaries in relationships, fosters a culture of tolerance toward violence that affects not only students' emotional well-being but also their academic performance and quality of life. This research highlights the need to implement educational strategies, preventive programs, and spaces for dialogue that promote healthy relationships, respect, and nonviolence in the university setting, in order to transform this problem into an opportunity for social and personal change.
