The term quality of life, in older adults, is synonymous with having peace, living in peace, being cared for and protected by their family and the state, where they live with dignity, respect and above all love, living free of being and living corresponding to their age, where they do not feel self-conscious for being people with greater vulnerability; They deserve to be social beings where they meet their needs, but also see and protect their rights. It is estimated within our society that the most vulnerable population is the elderly; This vulnerability is reflected in different factors against abuse, such as the loss of social role, the dependency they have regarding many pathologies they acquire, low self-esteem, which reflects poor mental health, it is also worth mentioning the economic lack that It forces you to depend on others, whether family members or geriatric centers. In Law 1251 of November 27, 2008 "where regulations are issued to seek the protection, promotion and defense of the rights of older adults", government entities, centers and individuals must ensure the rights and duties of these , the first people who must look after this is their family, this must guarantee a dignified and safe old age for the elderly, where their active participation is seen. The decision to carry out our research project with this community is due to the harsh reality that it faces within Barranquilla; For the Barranquilleros, this is not something furtive, since the poverty and lack they experience is quite notorious, not only in the economic factor, but also in the social factors where their rights and opportunities are found.
