The document presents a research study on the social representations of discrimination against transgender women, focusing on the perspective of students from the Simón Bolívar University in Cúcuta, affiliated with health centers. Using a qualitative approach and an interpretative paradigm with a hermeneutic design, semi-structured interviews were conducted to explore the social representations and discrimination faced by transgender women from healthcare personnel. The findings indicate that, although there is recognition of the rights of transgender women, discriminatory attitudes persist among individuals external to the health staff, which affect the quality of care received. Significant barriers were identified by some users of various health centers, which may represent a setback in the progress achieved by the transgender community regarding acceptance and equitable access to healthcare services. This research concludes with the importance of implementing awareness programs and inclusive policies to improve care for this population, thereby promoting a more inclusive, respectful, and equitable environment. This study contributes to social and community psychology by providing a basis for developing strategies that foster inclusion and respect for gender diversity within the healthcare system.
