Objective: to evaluate the use of urban parks for the practice of physical activity in Valledupar. Materials and Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out in 4 city parks. The SOPARC was used as a measuring tool to collect data on: levels of physical activity, gender and life course The PARA Instrument was applied, which evaluates park conditions, such as: accessibility, use, supervision and organization of observed activities Results: In total 51750 visitors were observed, corresponding to 47% in women and 53% in men. It was found that the level of physical activity (AF) of males was higher than that of females with a higher tendency in adolescents and adults. The male sex presented a higher level of moderate to vigorous physical activity (73.43%), the female registered a lower level (68.66%). There was also a greater sedentary lifestyle in women with 31.34% compared to 26.57% in men. The conditions of the parks according to the instrument FOR which determined that the scenarios are accessible and usable were evidenced in this investigation. Conclusion: this study showed that a large proportion of users visit parks of all ages, because they are accessible, but these spaces have low percentages in supervised activities or with little presence of an official or guardian in many of the activities. they would increase the use of the parks considerably, and also increase the levels of physical activity (AF). This project encourages the city authorities to continue with public policies that privilege the park as a scenario for health promotion.
