The consolidation of the LGBTI movement, focused on fighting homophobia and demanding modern and egalitarian legislation, is already a fact throughout the world, however, many of the advances that were legally obtained did not affect the homophobic attitude of many sectors of the country and of the world. Currently, there is a global deficiency, and more specifically in Barranquilla-Colombia, of studies carried out that reflect the perception and opinion that citizens have towards the LGBTI community, thus making the execution of this research relevant. A descriptive observational cross-sectional study with random sampling was carried out, in which a total of 40 people participated. It was observed in the general perception 52% of positive perceptions, 40% of regular perception and 7.5% of negative perception. This research project fulfilled its main objective of achieving the elaboration and validation of an instrument intended to measure the perception that a certain conglomerate presents towards the LGBTI population, offering a different perspective on the social studies carried out on it, focusing mainly on the perception of the population in front of them. Although the approximate results of the pilot test were mostly positive, they do not accurately represent the true perception of the city of Barranquilla.
