Resumen
Este proyecto de investigación se centra en las representaciones sociales de la comunidad LGBTIQ+ en la Universidad Simón Bolívar, sede Cúcuta, analizando cómo estudiantes y profesores perciben y construyen significados en torno a la diversidad sexual y de género. En un contexto académico que busca promover la inclusión, es fundamental entender las dinámicas sociales que influyen en la aceptación y visibilidad de estas identidades. A través de un enfoque metodológico que combina técnicas cualitativas y cuantitativas, se exploran las actitudes y percepciones hacia la comunidad LGBTIQ+, revelando que, aunque hay un creciente reconocimiento de la importancia de la diversidad, persisten estereotipos y prejuicios que limitan la inclusión. Los hallazgos indican que muchos miembros de la comunidad universitaria son conscientes de la necesidad de igualdad de derechos, pero enfrentan barreras que dificultan su implementación efectiva. Este estudio pone de relieve la urgencia de visibilizar las experiencias de la comunidad LGBTIQ+ y fomentar un diálogo que desafíe las creencias preconcebidas. Las recomendaciones
incluyen el desarrollo de programas educativos que aborden la diversidad sexual y de género, así como la creación de espacios seguros para el diálogo y la sensibilización. Al final, este trabajo no solo busca contribuir al conocimiento académico sobre la diversidad sexual, sino también ofrecer información valiosa para futuras intervenciones que promuevan un ambiente universitario más inclusivo y respetuoso. La investigación enfatiza la importancia de reconocer y valorar todas las identidades, lo que es esencial para construir una cultura de respeto y aceptación en el ámbito académico y más allá.
This research project focuses on the social representations of the LGBTIQ+ community at the Simón Bolívar University, Cúcuta campus, analyzing how students and teachers perceive and construct meanings around sexual and gender diversity. In an academic context that seeks to promote inclusion, it is essential to understand the social dynamics that influence the acceptance and visibility of these identities. Using a methodological approach that combines qualitative and quantitative techniques, attitudes and perceptions towards the LGBTIQ+ community are explored, revealing that although there is growing recognition of the importance of diversity, stereotypes and prejudices persist that limit inclusion. The findings indicate that many members of the university community are aware of the need for equal rights, but face barriers that hinder its effective implementation. This study highlights the urgency of making LGBTIQ+ experiences visible and fostering dialogue that challenges preconceived beliefs. Recommendations include developing educational programs that address sexual and gender diversity, as well as creating safe spaces for dialogue and awarenessraising. Ultimately, this work aims not only to contribute to the academic understanding of sexual diversity but also to provide valuable information for future interventions that promote a more inclusive and respectful university environment. The research emphasizes the importance of recognizing and valuing all identities, which is essential to building a culture of respect and acceptance in academia and beyond.
