Resumen
La familia es un sistema conformado por un grupo de personas unidas en parentesco, esta puede ser por vínculos consanguíneos, o constituido de forma legal, en donde cada integrante posee responsabilidades y cada uno cumple con un rol diferente dentro de la misma, por lo tanto, todos los elementos interactúan entre sí, ocasionando que cualquier acción sobre algún integrante pueda que repercuta sobre todos sus integrantes.
Es importante que la familia se observe como una unidad, como un sistema donde cualquier alteración en alguno de sus miembros implica disfuncionalidad en su totalidad. Por consiguiente, cuando se habla de Familia Cuidadora Sostenible (FCS) se refiere a una familia que pueda desempeñar su papel de cuidadora, y que al mismo tiempo sea capaz de llevar a cabo su proyecto vital familiar, que sea capaz de seguir con la propia vida, basándose en sus fortalezas familiares y utilizando aquellos recursos que refuerzan positivamente la tarea de cuidar. Para conseguir esto, es necesario proporcionar a esas familias medios, recursos, y oportunidades para que puedan seguir realizando su labor de cuidar de un familiar dependiente, sin perder por ello su desarrollo humano. El profesional de enfermería mediante su preparación rigurosa para el trabajo con familias, tendrá como fin desarrollar en estas un sentimiento de unidad y promover la cooperación, el apoyo mutuo y la coordinación; así mismo, propiciar algunas formas de adaptación a las diferentes situaciones a las que se deben enfrentar en el transcurso de su ciclo vital; ver a las familias como cuidadoras de sus propios miembros, e identificar el hogar como el lugar en el que vive la persona objeto de cuidado y sus familiares.

Therefore, when talking about a Sustainable Caregiver Family (FCS) it refers to a family that can carry out its role as caregiver, and that at the same time is capable of carrying out its vital family project, that is capable of continuing with its own life, building on their family strengths and using those resources that positively reinforce the task of caring. To achieve this, it is necessary to provide these families with means, resources, and opportunities so that they can continue to carry out their work of caring for a dependent family member, without losing their human development. The nursing professional, through his rigorous preparation for working with families, will have the purpose of developing in them a feeling of unity and promoting cooperation, mutual support and coordination; likewise, promote some forms of adaptation to the different situations that they must face during their life cycle; see families as caregivers of their own members, and identify the home as the place where the person in care and their relatives live.
