Resumen
El presente trabajo aborda el fenómeno de la deserción estudiantil en la educación media,
así como las implicaciones de esta problemática en la ciudad de Cúcuta. La educación
para el mejoramiento de las habilidades de los individuos, que incide en la práctica de las
libertades políticas y en la participación que tienen los individuos para la defensa los
derechos; que otorga la posibilidad mejorar de la calidad de vida. Basado en lo anterior,
la consultoría se llevó a cabo con el objetivo analizar el fenómeno del abandono escolar
en educación media del municipio de San José de Cúcuta.
La investigación se realizó mediante una metodología mixta que incluyó grupos focales,
entrevistas semiestructuradas, revisión documental. Asimismo, se complementa con un
análisis estadístico, para poder proporcionar un diagnóstico de la educación media en
Cúcuta y emitir recomendaciones para mitigar la deserción.
En el proceso de investigación se identificaron diversos efectos de la deserción,
abordando factores individuales, familiares, escolares y comunitarios. A nivel individual,
se destaca la mayor vulnerabilidad a condiciones no dignas de trabajo y a la reproducción
de las condiciones de pobreza. A nivel comunitario, la deserción puede representar un
atraso en el desarrollo socioeconómico. En el marco social, la deserción reproduce la
desigualdad social y limita el desarrollo de habilidades para la vida y competencias en la
población joven. Además, se resalta la importancia de comprender la deserción en el
contexto de las condiciones de existencia, la realidad del mercado laboral y las
condiciones de los estudiantes de educación media.
This paper presents address the phenomenon of student dropout, as well as the implications of this problem in Cúcuta. Education as a tool for improving the skills of individuals, the ability of individuals to participate in the defence of rights, which gives them the possibility of intervening in the public sphere, the management of society it is vital to create the conditions for people to fully exercise. Taking into account the above, this consultancy was carried out with the objective of analyzing the phenomenon of school dropouts in secondary education in the municipality of San José de Cúcuta. The research was carried out through a mixed methodology that included focus groups, semi-structured interviews, document review, and a statistical analysis, in order to provide a diagnosis of secondary education in Cúcuta and issue recommendations to mitigate student dropout. In the research process, various causes of school dropout were identified, addressing individual, family, school and community factors The effects observed as a result of student dropout encompass effects at the individual, community and societal levels. At the individual level well as increased vulnerability to undignified working conditions and the reproduction of the poverty trap. At the community level, dropout can result in the loss of human capacity for the community. At the societal level, dropout contributes to the reproduction of social inequality. Furthermore, the document highlights the importance of understanding student dropout in the context of the material conditions, the reality of the labour market and the constitutions of secondary school students.
