Resumen
El objetivo de la presente investigación está orientado a determinar las competencias
transversales de los estudiantes de odontología de último semestre de la Universidad
metropolitana. Para su ejecución se utilizaron entrevistas y cuestionarios, bajo el referente de la
triangulación. Se define una muestra intencional de 39 estudiantes de último semestre del
programa de odontología. Para el fundamento teórico, se llevó a cabo la construcción del estado
del arte, el marco legal de la investigación y teorías de apoyo de tipo curricular, teoría
pedagógica de las competencias, desarrollo humano y la conceptualización de las competencias
del proyecto Tunning. Se realiza la descripción, interpretación y construcción hermenéutica de
los datos de la entrevista articulados a los datos arrojados por el cuestionario. Los resultados de
la investigación determinan que los estudiantes presentan una percepción favorable frente a las
competencias transversales sistémicas e instrumentales. Sin embargo, las competencias
interpersonales requieren ser enfocadas en función de que los estudiantes desarrollen la
iniciativa, el liderazgo y la motivación para una eficaz y eficiente transferencia de los
conocimientos construidos a lo largo de la carrera en el escenario de práctica. Para culminar el
estudio se realiza una propuesta encaminada a fortalecer las competencias transversales
interpersonales de los estudiantes que articula el sentir y el pensar, pues más allá de proporcionar
sugerencias y directrices metodológicas, es necesario que los estudiantes desarrollen la
autogestión para desenvolverse en los diferentes contextos de aplicación disciplinar.
The objective of the present investigation was oriented to objective is to determine the transversal competences of the last semester dentistry students of the Metropolitan University. For its execution, interviews and questionnaires were used, under the reference of triangulation. An intentional sample of 39 students, practitioners of the dentistry program, is defined. For the theoretical foundation, the construction of the state of the art, the legal framework of the research and support theories of curricular, pedagogical, human development and the conceptualization of the competencies of the Tunning project was carried out. The description, interpretation and hermeneutical construction of the interview data articulated with the data produced by the questionnaire is carried out. The results of the research determine that the students present a favorable perception of the transversal systemic and instrumental competences. However, interpersonal competencies need to be focused on the basis that students develop initiative, leadership and motivation for an effective and efficient transfer of the knowledge built throughout the career in the practice setting. To conclude the study, a proposal is made aimed at strengthening the interpersonal transversal competences of the students that articulates the feeling and thinking, because beyond providing suggestions and methodological guidelines, it is necessary for the students to develop self-management to function in different contexts disciplinary application.
