This case study focuses on the intricate relationship between family dynamics and basuco use in young people who have experienced the difficult reality of life on the street and are currently immersed in a process of detoxification and social reintegration, and how various family aspects influence decisions and behaviors related to drug use in this specific group of individuals. Through a detailed analysis of the experiences of these young people during their rehabilitation process, the study seeks to shed light on the fundamental role played by the family in their trajectory. It proposes to explore how these family dynamics may not only act as risk factors, but also as protective elements in the complex family system. To achieve this goal, a variety of instruments and interviews are used to assess in detail the experiences of young people on their road to recovery. The study is not only limited to the retrospective analysis of family patterns, but also focuses on the quality of relationships within the family nucleus and explores how these dynamics can have a positive or negative impact on the detoxification and social reintegration process. Optimization as recovery progresses not only seeks to analyze the lived experiences that tend to act as precipitants in the onset of addiction to basuco and other psychoactive substances, but also to verify the influence these dynamics have on the family system.
