Oppositional defiant disorder (ODD) occurs in children with disruptive behavior for their age and culture, characterized by a persistent pattern of moodiness or irritability, where defiant or vindictive behaviors are discussed or presented, which cause a significant deterioration in life In family, social activities, and school life, children with ODD may struggle to make and keep friends and other relationships. This behavioral disorder is usually more frequent in children and adolescents, becoming one of the main causes of psychological consultation in this population, the symptoms usually begin at the end of preschool age and the beginning of school age. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between a strong-willed or emotional child and a child with oppositional defiant disorder. It is normal to observe oppositional behavior at certain stages of a child's development, but if these disorders are not evaluated and treated properly, it can be difficult to treat, the earlier the disorder is controlled, the better the situation will be. That said, it is important to highlight that the research work is supported by work under the parameters of DSM 5. The objective of this work is to identify the incidence of oppositional defiant disorder in children aged 7-11 years in the city of Barranquilla. The investigative approach of this work is quantitative, as it focuses on quantifying data collection and analysis.
