| spa |
dc.description.abstract | This study focuses on understanding the experience of depression in older adults who maintain high levels of functioning and independence in their daily activities. As the world's population ages, rates of depression in this population are increasing, which can have significant consequences for their physical, emotional and social health. The aim of the study is to identify features characteristic of depression in functionally independent elderly people, as well as specific risk factors related to this group. It addresses the need to understand the coping strategies used by older people to manage depression and maintain quality of life. The overall goal of the research is to develop more effective intervention and prevention strategies for this population, improve detection, treatment and quality of life of older adults with depression. Using a rigorous qualitative approach, the study hopes to gain an enriching and detailed understanding of the cognitive functioning and mood of older adults in this sample. The research methodology includes a qualitative assessment of the cognitive functions and mood of older adults using a combination of data collection and qualitative analysis methods. A reflective and critical approach is used to ensure the validity and reliability of the results, and ethical considerations protect the autonomy and dignity of the participants. In summary, this study aims to fill the gap in knowledge about depression in functionally independent elderly by identifying their characteristics, risk factors and coping strategies. The results are expected to improve the care and mental health of this population by providing practical recommendations for clinical practice and future research. | eng |
