familiar.
The Internet is a tool that since its inception has facilitated communication, learning, access to information that was previously either unavailable or very difficult to access. The use of the Internet by children, adolescents and young people has to be controlled in some way, since it has become a primary tool in their lives, as stated by López et al. (2019). On the other hand, Arnaiz et al. (2016), raised the existence of certain risks that can be caused by the frequent use of this tool. Considering the above, it should be pointed out that due to the appearance of Covid-19, which declared compulsory confinement due to the health crisis, there was an exponential increase in the use of the Internet, especially in this population (Ortiz-Padilla et al., 2020).Studies indicate that this increase brought with it affects both individual well-being and the family system.. Fernández et al. (2021), discusses family functioning and its relationship with the misuse of technologies (internet), posing that, although technologies provide different benefits at a personal or collective level, they can cause imbalances that can affect family functioning. This research aimed to characterize the use of the Internet and family functioning in children aged 8 to 12 years from 2 educational institutions in times of pandemic by COVID 19.
