Abstract
La investigación realizada en la Universidad Simón Bolívar analiza el impacto del consumo de redes sociales entre los jóvenes en diversos aspectos de sus vidas. A través de entrevistas, grupos focales y la recopilación de información, se ha observado cómo el constante uso de redes sociales ha modificado significativamente las dinámicas de interacción y las relaciones interpersonales de la población y se ha estudiado la influencia de ciertos contenidos en redes sociales en la percepción de la juventud en general. Se ha evidenciado que el uso excesivo de las redes sociales puede llevar al aislamiento social, pero también se reconoce su utilidad para mantener amistades y establecer conexiones significativas. La investigación destaca la importancia de tener conciencia sobre el impacto en la salud mental y la privacidad al utilizar las redes sociales, así como la influencia crucial de estas plataformas en la vida de los jóvenes para su bienestar emocional, autoestima e identidad. El trabajo social cumple un papel fundamental al brindar herramientas para que los jóvenes desarrollen una relación saludable con las redes sociales, fomentando habilidades de pensamiento crítico, autocuidado emocional y relaciones saludables en los jóvenes. De otro modo, las redes sociales son percibidas por los jóvenes como una herramienta importante para su independencia económica y promoción de su imagen personal. El impacto de las redes sociales en la difusión de información y su efecto en el bienestar emocional y percepción del mundo de los jóvenes es un fenómeno relevante que requiere atención por parte del trabajo social.
The research carried out at the Simon Bolívar University analyzes the impact of social media consumption among young people in various aspects of their lives. Through interviews, focus groups and the collection of information, it has been observed how the constant use of social networks has significantly modified the dynamics of interaction and interpersonal relationships of the population and the influence of certain content on social networks has been studied in the perception of youth in general. It has been shown that excessive use of social networks can lead to social isolation, but their usefulness is also recognized for maintaining friendships and establishing meaningful connections. The research highlights the importance of being aware of the impact on mental health and privacy when using social networks, as well as the crucial influence of these platforms in the lives of young people for their emotional well-being, self-esteem and identity. Social work plays a fundamental role in providing tools for young people to develop a healthy relationship with social networks, promoting critical thinking skills, emotional self-care, and healthy relationships in young people. Otherwise, social networks are perceived by young people as an important tool for their economic independence and promotion of their personal image. The impact of social networks on the dissemination of information and its effect on young people's emotional well-being and perception of the world is a relevant phenomenon that requires attention from social work
