Throughout history, social behavior has been influenced by different factors, such as religion, politics, economics, culture, and technology. For example, in ancient societies, religion played an important role in regulating social behavior, and people conformed to religious norms and values to maintain social cohesion. In the 20th century, psychology and sociology became important disciplines for studying social behavior. Another topic in relation to this research is COVID-19 and its emergence, which is considered as an infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus, which was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China in late 2019. Currently, COVID-19 remains a major public health concern worldwide. While some countries have managed to control the spread of the virus, others are still dealing with high rates of infection and death. Regarding the objectives of this research, the general objective is to unveil the social behavior of students at the Simon Bolivar University who are in psychology orientation before, during and after the pandemic generated by COVID-19. With reference to the methodology, the research approaches a qualitative approach, proposing a hermeneutic phenomenological design, integrating the population between 18 and 23 years old, who are in psychological assistance provided by the university welfare of the Simón Bolívar University, chosen by means of a convenience sampling and constructed by means of techniques such as in-depth interviews and discourse analysis. Regarding the results, these allowed to establish that the students perceived that their state of mind during the quarantine was negatively affected in the acquisition of new knowledge and that most of them are afraid of facing their professional practices. Finally, it is concluded that young university students may have long-term repercussions on their mental health and working life because of the quarantine imposed in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.
