The main objective of this research was to validate the Prefrontal Symptoms Inventory (ISP) in a sample of young Colombian adults, in order to establish its reliability as an assessment tool for symptoms associated with prefrontal cortex dysfunction. In Colombia, there are currently no validated psychometric instruments that allow for the precise identification of symptoms derived from frontal lobe alterations, which limits both clinical practice and research development in the field of neuropsychology. A quantitative approach with a descriptive and cross-sectional design was adopted, applying the ISP to a representative sample of 305 young adults aged 18 to 35. For data analysis, statistical procedures such as Cronbach’s alpha coefficient were used to determine the internal consistency of the instrument, and exploratory factor analyses were conducted to verify construct validity. The results showed adequate levels of reliability and validity in the three dimensions of the instrument: behavioral control, emotional control, and social behavior, confirming the factorial structure previously proposed by the ISP authors. These findings support the use of the inventory as a valid and reliable resource for the evaluation of executive functions and symptoms related to prefrontal dysfunction in clinical and academic contexts within the country. 4 The validation of this instrument represents a significant contribution to the field of psychology in Colombia, as it strengthens the diagnostic capacity of professionals and opens new possibilities for research in neuropsychology, especially in young populations.
