Entrepreneurship and innovation can be a way out of one of the problems that young students currently face: Unemployment. That is why Universities persist in training comprehensive students capable of identifying and developing entrepreneurial and innovative skills. The sole purpose of this research project is to analyze, understand and characterize entrepreneurial and innovative skills in Industrial Engineering students through the chair of innovation and entrepreneurship offered by the Universidad Simón Bolívar (USB) based in Barranquilla; A descriptive methodology was used, therefore, it was decided to carry out a survey as a data collection instrument in order to study the established variables (entrepreneurial and innovative skills and the motivation and interest of the students at the time of undertaking or innovate). The study population was made up of students enrolled from the sixth to the tenth semester of the Industrial Engineering program in the period 2021-2, where 52% of the respondents were women and 48% were men, the high index in the cognitive component of the majority of students who managed to differentiate and identify key knowledge related to innovation and entrepreneurship, on the other hand, it was identified that although USB students have an acceptable degree of interest and emphasize the importance of the offered chair by the University, 60% of them indicate that the academic training provided is not enough to develop and strengthen the skills of innovation and entrepreneurship
