The establishment of interpersonal relationships depends on various sociocultural, psychological and family factors, among others. Couple relationships are often influenced by these factors generating unhealthy relationships among adolescents. One of the most common difficulties in adolescent couple relationships is emotional codependence. Emotional codependence is a psychological condition, in which a person becomes emotionally attached to another due to a feeling of insecurity and/or fear. A codependent person cannot make a decision by himself/herself, because he/she needs approval in a certain way from the one he/she depends on, limiting his/her actions to the opinions and actions of the other. The objective of this work was to identify the psychosocial factors present in the relationships of adolescents who show signs of codependence. This is a qualitative study with the participation of 17 young people who completed a survey of psychosocial factors and filled out the emotional dependence questionnaire (CDE) developed by Lemos and Londoño (2006). As a result, it was found that both women and men present characteristics of emotional dependence, manifested in behaviors related to satisfying their partners in order to prevent the relationship from ending, which can lead them to distance themselves from their friends or to please their partner's request. A certain degree of fear about the breakup of their relationship was also identified.
