This thesis addresses the experience of writing as a political and formative activity for Medellín’s women. The problem is framed around what drives women from the early to mid-20th century to move from the home to the public space to express the sentiment of an era of struggles through the experience of writing as a political and formative activity in magazines such as Cyrano, Sábado, Gloria, Letras y Encajes, and Agitación Femenina. The methodology, based on a historical and political method, as well as on the analysis of the narrative device (Arfuch), and particularly on the writing of memories through traces (Benjamin), includes consulting archives and using primary sources—magazines, medical records, and judicial files—and secondary sources, such as texts on memory, politics, feminisms, among others, creating a bridge between the past and the present. As a conclusion, by making writing a political activity, women educate themselves, help educate others, and allow new subjectivities to emerge. The magazines are platforms that enable women to express their political affiliations and educate others. It is important that women continue the legacy of making writing a political and formative activity that allows for new collective and inclusive goals.
