A culture of reporting fosters an atmosphere in which people feel comfortable reporting safety problems without fear of reprisals and with the knowledge that measures will be taken based on the reported behavior such as the adverse event, defining this as the result of a medical action that caused unintentional damage. In this order of idea, it is framed in the culture of safety, this refers to the way in which people perceive, value and prioritize safety, and express it through their actions, both individually and collectively in health care, in which they are services provided to individuals or groups to promote, maintain, monitor and restore health. Therefore, patient safety has achieved an international reach and has been associated with political agendas and debates of interest in health, where the exploration of regulatory frameworks and strategies for the prevention of adverse events are relevant points to achieve the objectives set by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Colombia in 2009.
