Resumen
En el presente ensayo el acoso laboral o mobbing como un problema recurrente en los
entornos laborales en Colombia, con efectos negativos en la salud mental, el desempeño
laboral y la vida personal de las víctimas. A pesar de su prevalencia, muchas personas
afectadas evitan denunciarlo por miedo a represalias o por temor a una intensificación del
hostigamiento. El mobbing se define como una serie de conductas hostiles ejercidas por
superiores, compañeros de trabajo o trabajadores, que deterioran el bienestar psicológico y
social de los trabajadores. Este tipo de acoso no solo impacta el ambiente laboral, sino que
también afecta la vida familiar y social del trabajador. Entre las principales consecuencias
psicológicas se encuentran la depresión, el estrés, la ansiedad, el síndrome de burnout y la
fobia social, que pueden derivar en aislamiento, pérdida de autoestima y, en casos extremos,
tendencias suicidas.
El ensayo destaca que el acoso laboral tiene un impacto significativo en el desempeño
organizacional, ya que los trabajadores sometidos a estas situaciones experimentan
desmotivación, disminución en su productividad y problemas de concentración . En muchos
casos, las víctimas optan por abandonar sus empleos o presentar constantes ausencias
laborales debido a la carga emocional que enfrentan. Esto, a su vez, afecta el rendimiento de
la empresa, generando mayores niveles de rotación de personal y una disminución en la
eficiencia operativa.
This essay examines workplace harassment or mobbing as a recurring issue in work environments in Colombia, with negative effects on the mental health, work performance, and personal lives of the victims. Despite its prevalence, many affected individuals avoid reporting it due to fear of retaliation or concerns about intensified harassment. Mobbing is defined as a series of hostile behaviors carried out by superiors, coworkers, or employees that deteriorate workers’ psychological and social well-being. This form of harassment not only impacts the work environment but also affects the victims' family and social lives. The main psychological consequences include depression, stress, anxiety, burnout syndrome, and social phobia, which can lead to isolation, low self-esteem, and, in extreme cases, suicidal tendencies. The essay highlights that workplace harassment significantly impacts organizational performance, as workers subjected to these conditions experience demotivation, decreased productivity, and concentration issues. In many cases, victims choose to leave their jobs or frequently miss work due to emotional distress. This, in turn, affects business performance, increasing employee turnover rates and reducing operational efficiency.
