Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are a cornerstone of Colombia’s economic and social development, particularly in the city of Barranquilla, where they play a crucial role in generating employment, fostering innovation, and supporting local growth. In recent years, these businesses have faced growing challenges related to globalization, competition, and the need to integrate sustainability into their management practices. Sustainability has therefore become a strategic factor for SMEs, enabling them to balance economic performance, social responsibility, and environmental protection while enhancing their competitive position in the market. This research aims to analyze how sustainability strategies influence the business competitiveness of SMEs in Barranquilla, identifying the main economic, social, and environmental benefits derived from their implementation. The study followed a qualitative approach with descriptive elements, using a semi-structured questionnaire applied to twenty SMEs operating in various sectors, including commerce, industry, logistics, gastronomy, and services.eng
