Introduction: obesity is a clinical entity that requires interventions that impact parameters associated with premature deaths such as fitness or cardiorespiratory fitness, a physiological indicator related to the ability to perform and tolerate physical activities. Aerobic resistance exercise induces health benefits in the medium and short term, with high-intensity interval exercise being an effective alternative with shorter sessions than traditional ones. Objective: determine the acute effect of one week of high-intensity interval training on the cardiorespiratory fitness of sedentary and overweight adult women. Material and method: a quasi-experimental study is proposed, in 40 sedentary adult women with excess weight. They were divided into two groups, one group carried out a week with four sessions of intense interval exercises (HIIT group; n=20; 24.75±5.52 years) and another with continuous aerobic exercises (ECMI group; n=20; 24.40±5.33 years). Before and after the week of exercises, cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular fitness, and body composition were measured.eng
