This article investigates the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on the development of creativity and critical thinking among university students and their perception of it. AI, defined as artificial systems that imitate human cognitive processes, has transformed various fields, including higher education. Although it facilitates quick access to information and automation of tasks, it also poses significant challenges. There are concerns about its impact on students' critical reasoning and creativity, as well as academic integrity. This study uses a structured survey to collect data on college students' perceptions and experiences with AI in their educational process. In addition, a theoretical review of the existing literature is carried out, prioritizing quantitative methods and articles published between 2019 and 2023. The findings reveal both benefits and challenges of AI in higher education, highlighting the need for balanced use that promotes cognitive development. and ethics of students. Among the limitations of the study is that a relatively small sample of 20 seventh-semester psychology students was taken for the survey, so there could be a selection bias, since other academic disciplines and educational levels were excluded. According to the results, widespread use of artificial intelligence is observed, with chatbots and virtual tutoring systems as the most used tools among participants. Opinions on the effectiveness of artificial intelligence in learning are diverse. Although a significant number of respondents consider these tools to be effective in their learning, there are also concerns about their possible negative impact on students' ability to innovate.
