Inclusive education for people with disabilities in higher education is a relevant topic today. Hence, there arises an academic interest in knowing why paradigms regarding this topic have not been changed in university institutions to transform educational projects that impact the quality of life of this population. This research seeks to determine the current state of the pedagogical practices of teachers in inclusive education in higher education to establish the existing needs and thus make a proposal that allows improving the quality of life of this population, their communities and in the university context. The methodology used is action research, descriptive and exploratory, with a socio-critical paradigm and with a self-reflective character from a qualitative approach. The participating subjects are teachers from the Simón Bolívar University, Cucuta campus. The results show that teachers agree that the educational community benefits in all aspects with the inclusion of people with disabilities, although there is also evidence of the need for training on the subject and support from institutions to carry out the educational process. For this reason, an educational proposal is made for teachers through a virtual learning object that covers the concepts of disability, inclusive education, regulations, barriers and universal design for learning. The implementation of this tool generates an innovative challenge in the region and may be the beginning of a new era in higher education in Norte de Santander
