Resumen
Introducción: El seguimiento a casos clínicos permite indagar, investigar, planear y ejecutar acciones
Macrosomia refers to a newborn who is very large or weighs more than 4,000gr. Some repercussions of macrosomia are due to metabolic disturbances (unstable glycemia), congenital heart defects and problems in feeding. Macrosomia can be triggered by maternal comorbidities such as gestational diabetes and maternal overweight during pregnancy, causing some complications in labor and the fetus. Case presentation: A macrosomic newborn with a metabolic disorder was approached in a medium complexity institution, due to the mother's overweight; related to poor eating habits during pregnancy, since during pregnancy I do not course with gestational diabetes.Discusion: Gestational diabetes is a maternal morbidity that triggers fetal macrosomia. Agudelo V and cols research found that excessive gestational weight gain was the variable with the greatest effect on the probability of a newborn with macrosomia, therefore obesity in pregnancy could have been triggered by poor eating habits
