According to the World Health Organization (OMS), childhood obesity is one of the most serious public health problems of the 21st century (1). The problem is that it is currently progressively affecting many low- and middle-income countries, including Colombian cities, due to its extensive development, starting to be considered a disease with epidemiological characteristics in recent years in terms of the health of the children. Objectives: To calculate the cases of social anxiety in pediatric patients with obesity or overweight found in Colombia. To determine the patterns of social anxiety that occur in pediatric patients who are overweight or obese. Suggest preventive and / or educational measures on obesity and overweight, and the psychosocial problems that these cause in the population of Latin America. Materials and methods: Through a systematic review of articles published between 2010-2020, on eating disorders and anxiety present in infants in Colombia. Result: In Colombia there is not enough data and the studies carried out are scarce, so the availability that exists is very poor to carry out more in-depth research on the subject. However, it is possible to recognize the two-way relationship that exists between obesity and some psychological factors in infants. Conclusion: there is an intimate relationship between eating disorders, such as obesity, and mental disorders, such as anxiety. They are two disorders that are linked to each other, mutually leading to their development. Therefore, it is considered necessary to call government entities first to carry out campaigns that promote self-love and self-acceptance.
