The Mandatory Health Quality Assurance System (SOGCS) of Colombia provides Health Service Provider Institutions (IPS) with the possibility of voluntarily accessing the health accreditation process of the Single Accreditation System (SUA). used as an improvement tool towards quality standards higher than those offered by the other components of the system (Decree 780 of 2016). Given that health accreditation requires as an initial stage to face the preparation cycle and management systems based on the ISO 9001 model have proven to be an excellent starting point for this, considering that 60% of accredited IPS have implemented their system of quality management through this standard, it is therefore convenient to integrate these two standards, as a means to achieve complementarity and synergy between the existing quality management systems and guide the results already achieved towards the Single Accreditation System (SUA) as a strategic decision in terms of quality. and competitiveness for IPS. Management systems will help companies to have greater control and good quality management in their processes, which will allow their standardization in order to achieve consistent and effective performance and service. If a company achieves ISO certification, this can allow it to increase its profits, gain more business, and increase customer satisfaction through good process management. Accreditation is the result of systematic and voluntary evaluation and monitoring processes; it allows obtaining reliable and objective information on quality. Health accreditation allows companies to provide humanized services, and it also allows them to generate trust in users. Health accreditation adequately provides information to users. The quality standards were designed in order to continually improve processes; Likewise, they take into account the opinions of users in order to respond to their needs and expectations. With health accreditation, opportunities for improvement are identified through follow-up and monitoring.
