In San Andres Islands, access to drinking water has been a constant challenge for the community in general. However, an innovative approach has emerged to address this problem: the implementation of the artesian well water treatment system, as this is a way to obtain quality drinking water. This implementation does not require large financial investment or advanced technical knowledge, and can be implemented and maintained by the communities themselves. One of the most important benefits of artesian wells is that they provide high quality drinking water at a very low cost. In addition, these wells are sustainable in the long term, as communities can easily maintain them and are not dependent on external suppliers. However, there are also some challenges in the implementation of the equipment and maintenance of the artesian well. Mainly ensuring water quality, as soil contamination can affect subway reservoirs. To address this, it is essential to conduct regular monitoring tests and ensure that the water treatment systems are working properly. Moreover, it is necessary to ensure the participation and collaboration of the population in the implementation of the treatment system and the maintenance of the artesian well. It is important that the population is involved in the entire process, from planning to implementation and maintenance, to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the project. To conclude, we highlight the importance of carefully analyzing the possible options to implement for the water treatment system, knowing that this is an innovative and sustainable solution to address access to drinking water for the population of San Andres Islas. Although there are challenges, the implementation of the equipment and proper maintenance of the artesian well can provide significant long-term benefits for the population, improving the quality of life of its inhabitants and promoting its sustainable development.
