Resumen
La presente consultoría aborda la inclusión laboral de personas con síndrome de Down en el sector calzado de Cúcuta y su área metropolitana, reconociendo que la inclusión social está estrechamente relacionada con la equidad, al facilitar el empoderamiento, la participación y la vinculación activa de todas las personas en la vida social, económica y política del país. Las personas con discapacidad, en especial aquellas con síndrome de Down, enfrentan múltiples barreras en el acceso al empleo formal, debido a prejuicios, estereotipos y a la falta de programas de inclusión adaptados a sus necesidades; El objetivo principal es proponer estrategias para la inclusión laboral de personas con condiciones genéticas(síndrome de Down) en el sector de calzado de la ciudad de Cúcuta, Colombia, para ello, se adoptó un enfoque cuantitativo mediante la aplicación de encuestas a empleadores del sector calzado de la ciudad. Los resultados evidenciaron que, aunque existe una disposición parcial a contratar personas con síndrome de Down, persisten barreras significativas, como la desinformación sobre sus capacidades, estigmas sociales y desconocimiento de los beneficios que conlleva su vinculación laboral. La inclusión plena de estas personas requiere una transformación cultural, campañas de sensibilización y el fortalecimiento de políticas públicas que promuevan entornos laborales más
equitativos y accesibles.
This research addresses the labor inclusion of people with Down syndrome in the footwear sector of Cúcuta and its metropolitan area, recognizing that social inclusion is closely related to equity, facilitating the empowerment, participation, and active involvement of all people in the social, economic, and political life of the country. People with disabilities, especially those with Down syndrome, face multiple barriers to accessing formal employment due to prejudices, stereotypes, and the lack of inclusion programs tailored to their needs. The main objective is to propose strategies for the labor inclusion of people with genetic conditions (Down syndrome) in the footwear sector of the city of Cúcuta, Colombia. To this end, a quantitative approach was adopted through the application of surveys to employers in the city's footwear sector. The results showed that, although there is a partial willingness to hire people with Down syndrome, significant barriers persist, such as misinformation about their abilities, social stigma, and ignorance of the benefits of their employment. The full inclusion of these individuals requires a cultural transformation, awareness campaigns, and the strengthening of public policies that promote more equitable and accessible work environments.
