The intervention from the cognitive-behavioral model is presented in the case of a 21-year-old young man with obsessive-compulsive disorder. The objective is to analyze the effects of the application of a cognitive-behavioral treatment aimed at reducing obsessive-compulsive symptomatology and identification of comorbidities with this disorder. The assessment was carried out using the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale (YBOCS) in Spanish. A cognitive-behavioral treatment consisting of 5 sessions was applied, which included cognitive and behavioral techniques such as psychoeducation, Socratic debate, mindfulness, diaphragmatic breathing training, self-instruction training and cognitive restructuring. With the intervention, as evidenced in the pretest evaluation, the main objective proposed was achieved, which was the identification of obsessive-compulsive symptomatology and its comorbidities. Implications of the study results are discussed, which support the efficacy of cognitive-behavioral therapy for the treatment of OCD in young adults.
