High blood pressure in children can be defined as systolic blood pressure above the percentile> 95 for gender, age and weight. Today triggering this disease not only is caused by organic disorders but to this we add the nutritional habits that directly are related to the emergence not only of childhood hypertension but also other conditions as in the case metabolic syndrome. The general objective is to characterize the nutritional factors related to hypertension in children 6-17 years who were interned in clinical pediatric ICU coast in 2012-2013. Methodology: made based on a retrospective cross-sectional descriptive. The inclusion criterions: Patients between the ages of 6 and 17 who suffer from high blood pressure on percentile> 95 patients between the ages of 6 and 17 who have no organic pathology database to produce hypertension and criterions Exclusion: Patients between ages of 6 and 17 who are not hypertensive patients between 6 and 17 who suffer from underlying condition that has caused their blood pressure. The instrument used far the first phase was a matrix whose source were gathering medical records, far the second phase was raised as an instrument type survey of parents of children in the study. In the results obtained that the highest rate of hypertension it was the age of 13, the highest percentage in which gender this condition was presented was male, 70% of our sample presented a BMI> 26.
