Toe report that emerges from the research developed at the Educational Institution Santa Lucia, as a response of a reflective and committed teaching community that wants to provide an alternative solution to their problem and aims to: Transversalize citizen skills with teacher commitment in the basic areas of the currículum of the Educational Institution Santa Lucia. The research is supported by theoreticians such as Chaux and Magendzo who defend the mainstreaming and implementation of citizens' competences in the basic areas of the currículum; the ministerial documents that guide and guide the structuring and purposes of the basic competency standards and sorne research that support the main categories of the present investigation as necessary for a more humane formation. The methodology used was participatory action research, developed in three phases where techniques such as participant observation, document review and group interview were used to identify the strategies used by teachers to implement citizen competencies; a reflection workshop to ensure that teachers value their knowledge and skills that, from their area, enable them to develop citizen competencies; and finally a group discussion to propose new strategies that allow the mainstreaming of citizens' competences in the basic areas of the currículum. It is concluded that there are few strategies used by teachers and that these were derived from the Project by a competent Atlantic in citizenship. In addition, it is necessary to visualize within the institutional planning the citizens' competences and it is necessary to propose more strategies that assure its implementation and mainstreaming in the basic areas of the currículum.
