Más allá de la despenalización: una mirada biopsicosocial en la interrupción voluntaria del embarazo

| dc.description.abstract | En este trabajo, me propuse abordar la interrupción voluntaria del embarazo (IVE) desde una perspectiva crítica, amplia e integral. Más allá de los debates jurídicos o clínicos, entendí que la IVE es una experiencia profundamente humana, atravesada por dimensiones emocionales, sociales, culturales, éticas y territoriales, que no pueden ser ignoradas si se desea garantizar una atención realmente digna, respetuosa y transformadora para las mujeres. Desde el punto de vista jurídico, reconozco los avances que ha tenido Colombia con fallos como la Sentencia C-355 de 2006 y especialmente la Sentencia C-055 de 2022, que despenalizó el aborto hasta la semana 24. Sin embargo, también constaté que la existencia de una norma no garantiza su aplicación efectiva, sobre todo en contextos rurales o periféricos, donde las mujeres siguen enfrentando barreras como la objeción de conciencia, el estigma social, la falta de infraestructura y la desinformación. Estos obstáculos convierten un derecho reconocido en papel, en una lucha cotidiana para muchas mujeres, especialmente las más vulnerables. Mi enfoque se basa en el modelo biopsicosocial, el cual permite entender la IVE no solo como un procedimiento médico, sino como una experiencia con efectos reales sobre la salud física, mental y social. En el desarrollo del ensayo, abordé la importancia de considerar el acompañamiento emocional y psicológico antes, durante y después del procedimiento. Muchas mujeres pueden sentir alivio y empoderamiento, pero otras pueden experimentar tristeza, ambivalencia o culpa. Esto no debe patologizarse, sino comprenderse desde el contexto personal y social que rodea cada decisión. | dc.description.abstract | In this work, I set out to address voluntary termination of pregnancy (VTP) from a critical, broad, and comprehensive perspective. Beyond legal or clinical debates, I understand that VTP is a deeply human experience, shaped by emotional, social, cultural, ethical, and territorial dimensions that cannot be ignored if we aim to guarantee care that is truly dignified, respectful, and transformative for women. From a legal standpoint, I acknowledge the progress Colombia has made with rulings such as C-355 of 2006 and especially C-055 of 2022, which decriminalized abortion up to the 24th week of gestation. However, I also observed that the existence of a legal norm does not guarantee its effective implementation, especially in rural or peripheral areas, where women still face barriers such as conscientious objection, social stigma, lack of infrastructure, and misinformation. These obstacles turn a recognized right on paper into a daily struggle for many women, particularly the most vulnerable. My approach is based on the biopsychosocial model, which allows us to understand VTP not only as a medical procedure, but as an experience with real impacts on physical, mental, and social health. Throughout the essay, I explored the importance of emotional and psychological support before, during, and after the procedure. While many women may feel relief and empowerment, others may experience sadness, ambivalence, or guilt. These reactions should not be pathologized, but rather understood within the personal and social contexts that surround each decision. The true emotional impact comes not so much from the abortion itself, but from social judgment, the lack of support networks, and the silence many women are forced to maintain. | eng |
