The main objective of this project is to develop a prototype of a recycling machine that significantly improves waste management at the Universidad Simón Bolívar Cúcuta. In this sense, we want to involve the community in general, highlighting the importance of generating a sustainable culture in our society, since the existing ones are not enough, working hard to improve the existing recycling procedures and promote sustainable waste management practices. The project provides a comprehensive overview of Universidad Simón Bolívar's commitment to sustainable development and waste management. It highlights the educational programs, the current legal framework, and the importance of integrating sustainability into the academic curriculum. It emphasizes the university's efforts to promote responsible waste management and the importance of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in shaping a more sustainable future. The findings indicate a high level of awareness among students about sustainable development, with a general consensus on the need to train professionals in sustainability. However, we recognize that there is room for improvement in educating the community about the SDGs and their integration into the academic curriculum. We conclude by highlighting the importance of continuing education and awareness-raising to ensure the commitment of the entire educational community to sustainability efforts
