Resumen
Objetivo Describir el perfil lipídico de los estudiantes universitarios de la Simón
Bolívar de acuerdo a los estilos de vida prevalentes en la comunidad académica.
Métodos Estudio observacional, descriptivo de corte transversal. El método usado
fue cuantitativo, el tipo de muestreo fue no probabilístico por conveniencia, donde
se partió de una muestra de 312 estudiantes con una submuestra del 10% que
corresponde a 31 estudiantes de la Universidad Simón Bolívar entre quinto y
octavo semestre de los cuales se les aplicó al 79%. El muestreo fue aleatorio
simple sin reemplazo. El instrumento de recolección de información se hizo en
base de un cuestionario en el consta de cinco apartes: Información general, datos
personales, antecedentes personales, hábitos como estrés, ejercicio y consumo
de tabaco y alcohol, hábitos alimenticios y antecedentes familiares; se realizó la
determinación de colesterol total, triglicéridos, HDL, LDL y así determinar la
asociación entre éstos y el estilo de vida
Resultados: El 43% de los estudiantes encuestados presentaron un índice de
masa corporal alterado; el 50% manifestaron no realizar actividad física, el 5% de
la población encuestada fuma, el 62% indico consumir alimentos grasos, el 32%
de los estudiantes indico tener antecedentes de hipercolesterolemia familiar. En el
análisis por géneros encontramos que la media del índice de masa corporal en los
hombres es de 26 lo que nos habla de sobrepeso, cuando se relacionó el nivel de
HDL y la práctica de actividad física se encontró que aquellos que eran
sedentarios tenían los niveles de HDL más bajo en comparación con aquellas que
si realizaban actividad física.

In the gender analysis found that the mean BMI in men is 26 which speaks of overweight, when the level of HDL and physical activity was associated was found that those who were sedentary had levels lower HDL compared to those that do engage in physical activity.
