Resumen
La investigación se centra en el bienestar psicológico de adolescentes sordos, un área que ha recibido escasa atención. Se destaca la importancia de comprender las dimensiones específicas de propósito de vida, crecimiento personal, autonomía y autoestima en esta población. A través de la aplicación de la Escala de Bienestar Psicológico para Sordos (BIPSI), se exploraron las percepciones y experiencias de los participantes, revelando resultados favorables en comparación con las expectativas derivadas de la literatura sobre la pérdida de audición. Aunque se reconoce la necesidad de considerar las limitaciones culturales en la interpretación de los resultados, se resalta la capacidad de los adolescentes sordos para ejercer control sobre su vida y entorno, subrayando la importancia de la detección temprana y la intervención adecuada para promover su autonomía y desarrollo. La investigación plantea la necesidad de continuar abordando las dificultades sociales y emocionales que enfrentan los adolescentes sordos, con la esperanza de mejorar su calidad de vida y promover un enfoque más integral en la atención a esta población.
The research focuses on the psychological well-being of deaf adolescents, an area that has received little attention. It highlights the importance of understanding the specific dimensions of life purpose, personal growth, autonomy and self-esteem in this population. Through the application of the Psychological Well-Being Scale for the Deaf (BIPSI), participants' perceptions and experiences were explored, revealing favorable results in comparison to expectations derived from the literature on hearing loss. Although the need to consider cultural limitations in the interpretation of the results is recognized, the ability of deaf adolescents to exercise control over their lives and environment is highlighted, underscoring the 5 importance of early detection and appropriate intervention to promote their autonomy and development. The research raises the need to continue addressing the social and emotional difficulties faced by deaf adolescents, in the hope of improving their quality of life and promoting a more comprehensive approach in the care of this population
