Introduction. Neuropsychological evaluation has played an important role over time, in conjunction with the study of epilepsy, and specifically in the surgical treatment of this pathology. It has been demonstrated that the neuropsychological results obtained have given accurate predictions regarding the outcome of seizures after temporal lobectomy. The inclusion of the neuropsychological evaluation has implied showing deficiencies in relation to the medical treatment of epilepsy and it has been possible to document the significant deterioration in most of the patients who present it (Loring, 1997). It is desired to establish with the neuropsychological evaluation, the neurocognitive functioning of the patient before, if possible during and after the surgical intervention that allows establishing a functional diagnosis about the processes that are preserved, which are recovered and which are affected to establish treatment plans. rehabilitation and intervention according to the conditions and needs of the patient. Objective: To evaluate the cognitive functioning of the patient diagnosed with refractory epilepsy, before and after surgery. Methodology: The neuropsychological deficits that it presents will be qualitatively evaluated, based on the syndromic analysis. We will work under the case study research design, with a qualitative clinical methodology.
