This study examines bipolar disorder as a diagnosis in an adolescent and its treatment using the cognitive behavioral model. This case study is based on describing how bipolar I disorder (a mild to moderate depressive episode) presents in an adolescent from a cognitive- behavioral model. A course of three (3) psychotherapy sessions is conducted, in which a set of psychological tests is used to identify the current problem and establish a diagnosis. This was followed by an intervention program that included cognitive restructuring techniques, psychoeducation, and identification of automatic thoughts and behavior modification of impulse control problems.. It is recommended to continue with the intervention process to strengthen the cognitive and affective domains. Research methods will be qualitative with specific procedures for collecting and analyzing non-quantitative data to understand concepts, perspectives, and lived experiences. The main objective is to analyze the different characteristics of bipolar disorder using different assumptions and theories of clinical psychology. In part, the findings allow us to say that we are facing a research topic currently little studied in Colombia, which mainly affects young women, and the contribution of clinical psychology allows the development of new theories on how these manipulatives are treated. strengthen the cognitive and affective professional field.
