Niveles de empatía en estudiantes de enfermería en Colombia

dc.description.abstractIntroducción: La empatía es un atributo importante para la relación entre el profesional de enfermería y el paciente, e influye en la recuperación de su estado de salud. La formación empática en los estudiantes de enfermería debe ser asumida por las facultades de enfermería. Objetivo: Evaluar los niveles de empatía en estudiantes de enfermería. Métodos: Estudio no experimental y transversal. Se midieron los niveles de empatía en estudiantes de enfermería de la Corporación Universitaria Rafael Núñez (Cartagena, Colombia), de febrero a marzo de 2017, mediante la Escala de Empatía Médica de Jefferson (S), validada y adaptada para Colombia mediante criterio de jueces. La muestra: n= 325; población N= 468 (69,44 %). Se estimaron medias y desviación estándar en dos factores: Cursos y Género. Se empleó un análisis de varianza bifactorial; se midió el crecimiento observado y se comparó con el crecimiento potencial. Resultados: Los datos tuvieron una distribución normal y fueron homocedásticos, ya que la varianza de los errores fue constante. Las pruebas de Kolmogorov-Smirnov y Levene no fueron significativas; Alpha de Cronbach fue satisfactorio. No existieron diferencias significativas entre los cursos y entre los géneros. Los valores de R2; de crecimiento empático son bajos en la empatía y en sus componentes. Conclusiones: Se manifestaron particularidades de la distribución de la empatía en la población de estudiantes analizados y la presencia de variabilidad de la distribución de la empatía en los factores estudiados en relación con otras poblaciones. Esto implica la exigencia de asumir las intervenciones educativo-empáticas considerando las particularidades encontradas en cada población.spa
dc.description.abstractIntroduction: Empathy is an important feature for the relationship between the nursing professional and the patient, and influences the recovery of his/her health status. Empathic training in nursing students must be assumed by the Nursing schools. Objective: To assess empathy levels in nursing students. Methods: Nonexperimental and cross-sectional study. Empathy levels were measured in nursing students from Rafael Núñez University Corporation (Cartagena, Colombia), from February to March 2017, using the Jefferson Medical Empathy Scale (S), validated and adapted for Colombia by expert criteria. The sample: n= 325; population N= 468 (69.44%). Mean and standard deviation were estimated in two factors: courses and gender. A bifactor analysis of variance was used. The observed growth was measured and compared with the potential growth. Results: The data had a normal distribution and were homogeneous, since the variance of the errors was constant. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov and Levene tests were not significant. Cronbach's alpha was satisfactory. There were no significant differences between courses or genders. R2 values of empathic growth are low in empathy and its components.eng
