A nivel local, Cúcuta enfrenta desafíos
This article aimed to comprehensively analyze the influence of social inequality on community development in Cúcuta. A qualitative methodology was employed, involving a literature review and document analysis from the past 5 years, all within the framework of social management perspective. The results highlighted the persistent social inequality in the city, with high levels of poverty and vulnerability stemming from factors such as migration, limited job opportunities, and the informal economy. Internationally, it was noted that despite efforts to combat poverty in Latin America, there are still 168 million people affected. Colombia exhibits one of the highest Gini coefficients among OECD countries. At the local level, Cúcuta faces economic and social challenges, including higher-than-average national unemployment rates. The theoretical review identified various factors contributing to these inequalities, encompassing economic, educational, health, and territorial aspects. The necessity for comprehensive community development strategies that address the root causes of inequality, not just the symptoms, was emphasized. Specific strategies were proposed, such as inclusive education programs, promoting local entrepreneurship with a focus on vulnerable groups, ensuring universal access to healthcare services, and initiating territorial development projects to enhance infrastructure in both urban and rural areas. These strategies aim not only to tackle social inequalities but also to catalyze a transformative impact on residents' lives, emphasizing the importance of active collaboration within the community.
