In this research, the influence of emotional intelligence (EI) on the workplace well-being of security guards at Integrales de Seguridad LTDA in Barranquilla, Colombia, was analyzed. The study aimed to understand how EI, defined as the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one’s own and others’ emotions, impacted job satisfaction, productivity, and interpersonal relationships. The problem stemmed from the fact that, despite the emotional demands inherent to the role of security guards, there had been no prior evaluation of how these skills contributed to their performance or quality of work life. This gap limited the design of organizational strategies aimed at improving the team’s overall well-being. The methodology employed a quantitative approach with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design. Data were collected through a survey administered to the security guards, providing a broad and detailed understanding of their occupational and emotional conditions. The results showed that over 90% of the security guards demonstrated effective emotional management, which positively impacted their performance and workplace interactions. This group exhibited a significant ability to adapt to change, propose innovative ideas, and take on new challenges, reflecting a growth-oriented mindset. However, 30% of participants expressed concerns regarding professional development opportunities, indicating an important area for improvement. Additionally, while most guards felt valued, some pointed to deficiencies in internal communication, which could be more open and transparent. The study also highlighted the need to strengthen reward systems and review the salary structure to ensure greater competitiveness and equity—key factors for improving team satisfaction. In conclusion, the research determined that emotional intelligence played a vital role in the well-being and work performance of the security guards at Integrales de Seguridad LTDA. Proper emotional management directly contributed to fostering a more collaborative, positive, and productive workplace environment, aligned with organizational goals. However, the study concluded that it was essential to implement strategies addressing areas of improvement, such as professional development and internal communication, to maximize the team’s potential. These measures would not only enhance the quality of work life for the security guards but also improve the company’s overall performance, creating a healthier, more motivating, and sustainable work environment for everyone involved.
