Substance abuse is a problem that affects the young population and that increases in significant numbers, impacting the physical and mental health of people. This clinical case study is carried out with a young person with a substance abuse disorder, under care in a center dedicated to the homeless population. The findings of the assessment conclude that there are manifestations of anxiety with a deficit in social skills. Likewise, their areas of personal, family, educational, work and social adjustment are involved. Based on these findings, an intervention plan with a cognitive behavioral approach is created, with a total of 14 sessions, where the process that was carried out with it could be evaluated and identified. At the beginning, various instruments were used, ranging from Informed Consent, a Semi structured Interview, the Medical History, the Alcohol, Tobacco and Substance Use Detection Test (OMS-ASSIST V3.0) and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI). The main objective of the intervention plan is to implement coping strategies that promote self acceptance and prevent relapses. The aim is to provide the young person with tools for their healthy development and to allow them to distance themselves from situations that put their integrity at risk, and to address their addiction to psychoactive substances. The study contributes to the development of new strategies to mitigate disruptive behaviors associated with substance use through this comprehensive and personalized approach, thus contributing to their well-being and development of short, medium and long-term goals.
