The purpose of this research was to analyze the promotion of healthy lifestyles and sustainable development in the context of an educational institution in the department of Atlántico. It began by approaching students to recognize the categories of healthy lifestyles and sustainable development and how they contribute to individual and collective well-being in the educational environment of the Villa del Carmen educational institution. With a qualitative approach, hermeneutic method and descriptive-interpretative type of study in a convenience sample of IE del Atlántico students from sixth to ninth grade, a semi-structured interview instrument and field observation were used. The results showed that, although there is a basic understanding of healthy habits (such as a balanced diet, physical activity, and personal hygiene), there is still a low level of connection between these practices and sustainable development. There was also little incorporation of environmental content into school activities, which limits the educational community's commitment to sustainability. Based on the findings, it is recommended to strengthen environmental education programs by integrating health and well-being components, promoting school gardens, recycling campaigns, and regular physical activities. It is also essential to train teachers in integrative approaches that link health, the environment, and sustainability. In conclusion, promoting a healthy lifestyle in the educational environment not only improves students' quality of life, but also shapes citizens who are more aware and responsible for their environment. As a place of learning, schools have the potential to become agents of change towards truly sustainable development.
