Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is characterized by instability in identity, interpersonal relationships, and emotional state, along with impulsive behaviors and dissociative symptoms. Comorbidities with other psychiatric disorders—such as mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance use disorders—are common. Regarding treatment, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) has been a pioneering approach in addressing BPD, providing effective tools for symptom management, emotional regulation, and improving patients’ quality of life. In this context, the aim of the present monograph is to describe cognitive-behavioral model-based interventions for the treatment of borderline personality disorder in young adults during the period from 2020 to 2024. A search strategy was developed in both English and Spanish using the EBSCO database. Initially, 64 documents were identified; after applying the established inclusion and exclusion criteria, 13 studies were selected for full-text review. The findings revealed that within CBT-based interventions, several authors emphasize the effectiveness of Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Schema Therapy (ST), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), highlighting their positive effects on emotional regulation, identity strengthening, and the improvement of interpersonal relationships. Specific techniques such as the empty chair technique, cognitive reappraisal, and emotional regulation training were also explored, showing varying degrees of effectiveness depending on the predominant symptoms in each patient. Early intervention models and group therapies were also examined, underscoring the importance of proper clinical management and treatment adherence. Additionally, less conventional approaches, such as adventure therapy and the use of digital tools, were included, analyzing their impact on reducing impulsivity and self-destructive behaviors.eng
