From a young age, people are taught how to behave, what to do to be socially accepted, and what is expected of them (IACHR, 2009: 102). Women are instructed that by nature they should be sweet, tender, motherly; while the attitude that the man must take in life is one of strength, hardness, insensitivity. The man protects, the woman cares. to mention a few, they create a series of stereotypes and prejudices that are naturalized and accepted as true. Prejudices and stereotypes that create technical opinions on issues of national relevance (IACHR, 2009: 137) That is why, the increase in acts of violence against women and the femicide of women, in the city of Barranquilla according to the Institute National Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, leads to reflect on this serious problem that is on the rise in society. It is an increasingly alarming scourge that highlights the inequality between men and women, as are the cases presented in the city of Barranquilla.
