Information and promotion in breastfeeding mothers is inherent, since they should receive knowledge about breastfeeding, which is unique and irreplaceable, taking into account that it helps to cover the baby's nutritional needs and also that during the first six months of life it becomes a fundamental human right that provides benefits for both. Objectives: To determine the level of knowledge and practices in exclusive breastfeeding in a group of adolescent mothers in an IPS in Barranquilla. Material and methods: The research is descriptive, with a cross-sectional design and a quantitative approach. The sample consisted of 15 adolescent mothers with children under 6 months of age attending a prenatal control program at a Simón Bolívar service provider institution (IPS) in the city of Barranquilla. A questionnaire and an observation guide were used to collect information on the practice of exclusive breastfeeding, which was measured under the criteria of adequate and inadequate. Results: the level of knowledge of breastfeeding by adolescent mothers is average (45%) and with respect to the practice it is not entirely adequate (71%). Conclusions: adolescent mothers are students, have an average of one child and most of them still live with their parents. The highest percentages of adolescent mothers have an average level of knowledge and perform an inadequate breastfeeding practice, results that corroborate the hypothesis of the research project
