Antecedentes: La cirugía son procedimientos quirúrgicos planificados con cita previa y tiene como objetivo el tratamiento a patologías y traumatismos; en Colombia la proporción de cancelación de cirugía programada es un indicador de calidad para el Sistema de Información de salud.
Objetivos: Determinar las causas que inciden en la cancelación de cirugías programadas en pacientes que asisten a una institución de salud en ciénaga magdalena en 2018 y 2019.
Materiales y Métodos: Materiales y Métodos: Estudio observacional retrospectivo, seleccionando todos los procedimientos cancelados de una institución de salud ubicada en Ciénega Magdalena, en el periodo enero 2018 - diciembre de 2019, para un total de 214 casos. Se analizaron las cancelaciones con variables sociodemográficas y clínicas, clasificándolas en atribuibles.
Conclusiones: Se recomienda continuar con esta línea de investigación para determinar las causas y por ende planes de acción de mejora en la institución de salud.
Background: Surgeries are planned surgical procedures and their objective is timely treatment; In Colombia, the proportion of scheduled surgery cancellation is a quality indicator for the Health Information System. Objective: Determine the causes that affect the cancellation of scheduled surgeries in patients attending a health institution in Magdalena Swamp in 2018 to 2019. Materials and Methods: retrospective observational study, all canceled procedures from a health institution in Ciénega Magdalena were chosen, period January 2018 - December 2019, for a total of 214 cases. Cancellations were analyzed with sociodemographic and clinical variables and attributable factors. Results: Of the 214 procedures canceled, 125 (58.4%) were canceled in 2018 and 89 (41.4%) in 2019, the proportion of cancellation being 4.5 and 3.8 for the years of study. Regarding sex, the highest cancellation was in women 60 (48%), 49 (55.1%) in 2018 and 57 (45.6%), 37 (41.6%) in 2019. Surgical procedures were scheduled in all age groups from 0 to 99 years old, with an average of 49.8 and 50.7 years in 2018 and 2019. The months with the highest cancellation were January and May with 18 (14.4%) in 2018 and January 14 (15 , 7%) in 2019. The percentage of cancellation by medical-surgical specialties has 1 (0.8%) in the gynecology oncology, maxillofacial, otorhino, pediatrics and 14 (11%) orthopedic specialties for 2018, while in 2019 gynecology 1 (1.1%) ) and orthopedics 20 (23%), this being the most frequent in cancellation. Conclusions: it is recommended to continue with this line of research to determine the causes and therefore action plans for improvement in the health institution.
